Last Thursday, the Catalan Tourism Agency, within its Enoturisme Catalunya program, made a Benchmark in Terra Alta. For this reason they prepared a series of agents from different sectors - tourist routes, accommodations, wineries, official tourism agencies, ... - of different activities in the territory.
In the begining we went to Gandesa to visit and try the proposals of the Herència Altés winery. Located in a beautiful landscape and in a new building totally integrated into the landscape. Without knowing it previously, we saw that he had a natural wine proposal: La Experimental, a monovarietal of red Grenache that we will soon prove.
Then we made a section of the greenway of the Ebro Lands, taking bicycles and going through old tunnels.
In the middle, the DO Terra Alta tasted us two white Grenache and one Mistela, at Fontcalda.
Then we went to eat in the restaurant of the Ancient Cooperative de Pinell de Brai, also known as the Wine's Cathedral. Wonderful modernist building made by Cèsar Martinell with a perfect collection of arches that cross over each other. We had right in front of the Cellar of Laureano Serres Montagut that at that time, unfortunately, was closed.
After lunch we went to Corbera to meet Francesc from the Frisach Winery. Unfortunately we could not see the old town of Corbera, destroyed by the fascist bombs during the Ebre battle, in 1938.
It took us to level 402, right in the space occupied by the Intarnational Brigades. We made the tasting surrounded by trenches and seeing a magnificent view that included Gandesa and the Sierras de Pàndols and Caballs, centers of the Ebre Battle.
We did a tasting of three wines, highlighting the Natural La Foradada, monovariteal white Grenache. A brisado wine, made in the old style and also the Sang de Corb, red wine with two Grenache - the fine, and the hairy - and with a Carinyena mixed together in the same vineyard.
A day where we could share with different people of the sector, this set of experiences and where, surely, different complicities will come out.
